Use your card to check out books, movies, vinyl, CDs, and more from the Circulation desk. Here you can also check out closed reserves and pick up your interlibrary loan books.  We also loan out PC and Mac laptops!

Meet the Librarians!

Need help? Ask a Librarian! They're usually available at the Research Help Desk or you can reach out to your subject specialist.

Instructional Librarians teach credit-bearing courses including LI 100, which is offered every semester as a general introduction to research. LI 371, offered primarily in the fall semester, is geared towards seniors working on a thesis or capstone project.

IT is here to help! Whether you're technologically savvy or technologically illiterate, a Windows person or a Mac person, there's no IT issue the help desk can't solve.

A Bloomberg Terminal is a standard tool for anyone looking to work in finance allowing you to find coverage of financial markets, industries, and companies as well as data analytics, news, and collaborative resources from Bloomberg Professional Services. We have two terminals that students can use to train on.

Looking for a study break? Stop by the Popular Fiction & Non-Fiction collection for an interesting read.

Located on the first floor, the collection houses an array of books, from mysteries to biographies, from romance novels to dystopian fiction. A guide to the Popular collection can also be found online.

Who Needs Netflix...

...when you've got the Scribner Library DVD collection? The Lucy Scribner Library DVD collection houses a vast array of DVDs searchable via the library catalog.  We also loan DVD players and hard drives, so you can actually play those DVDs.

Want Something New?

Check out our newest books on the shelves on the Central Display bookshelf. There's always a fun display on the other side of the shelf, and books that correspond to Tang events under "Tang Currents."

Stay Current

with Scribner Library's selection of Current Periodicals, which includes magazines and journals. Current issues of titles ranging from Vanity Fair to Adirondack Life are located on the first floor. By lifting the shelves you can find a copy of every issue throughout the year. Copies of periodicals older than a year can be found in the Hoge Building.

We also have a small rack of the most popular magazines next to the Central Display area if you want to chill and catch up on the Tea.

Calling All Film Buffs!

Film students and movie fans alike can reserve the Media Viewing Room for big screening viewing of homework assignments or even favorite movies. The Media Viewing Room is located on the first floor and can be reserved ahead of time or at the door.

You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)

Vinyl is back!  We've got a small browsing collection of vinyl for you to enjoy.  You can play them on our listening station or borrow a portable record player from Circulation.  Once a year, students get to vote on what albums are added into the collection.

Did you know that professors can set aside relevant books about their courses?

Open Reserve items are located around the corner from the Circulation desk. To reserve items relevant to courses, login to the Reserves via the library website.

Copy RIGHT!

Scribner Library's photocopier is located on the first floor and can scan and copy (black and white) for free! If you want something a bit more fancy, pop down to Media Services. Be sure to follow US copyright laws!

Let's Play!

Everybody needs a break, so take a moment working on a puzzle or playing a board game. Our puzzle table has a regularly changing puzzle that people work on for a few minutes (or hours!) at a time. The games cart features a wide variety of board and card games that can be played anywhere in the library.

Get Creative in Our Corridor

The middle of the library's first floor.   There are yellow and grey armchairs arranged next to each other with small side tables. In the middle is a bookcase with large, green, high-baked sofas on either side.  Further on are glassed-in study cubes with a variety of furniture.

Our latest remodel introduced the "Creative Corridor" meant to foster collaboration among students with a wide variety of seating options including glassed-in cubes and booth seating as well as more display spaces for our regular and Special collections.

Be one with nature, even when it's cold outside!  Our greenspace features a variety of potted plants to add a touch of green, especially during the winter months.

Snack Time

Located directly across from the Circulation desk, the Library Café provides a convenient place to grab coffee, tea, juices, and other snacks via vending machine, that accepts skid card, cash or credit cards. 

Om Or Pray Your Worries Away

We have a prayer and meditation room where you can meditate, pray, or just take a peaceful moment during a busy day.
