Know Your Library

"Shhhhhh..."

A poster with different, large fonts that reads "Aggressive Typers, Wrapper Crunchers, Volume Abusers, Chit Chatters, Avide Texters.)

Too much noise for you, even in the library? Go up to the 3rd floor; it's the quiet zone! There's plenty of space to stretch out and work on that paper you've been putting off, or book one of the two large study rooms for some quiet study time with a friend!

For something "Special"...

A group of students sitting around a large, wooden table. The instructor is explaining to them with a cart of archival items behind her.

Stop by the Ponhdorff Room on the third floor for a look at Special Collections. The Department of Special Collections houses the college’s archives and its rare book collection. The collecting mission of the archives is limited to materials directly related to Skidmore College.

The walls have colorful hot air balloons and clouds on them.Another section of the children's room with a comfy chair and ottoman, a rug with a child-friendly design of books and stars. Built-in bookshelves with picture books are on either side of the chair.

Our children's collection features picture books, early chapter readers, biographies, other non-fiction books, and novels for up to Middle School readers.  While kept for Education Studies students and employee children, anyone is welcome to use and borrow books from this collection or just cuddle with one of our stuffies.
